Writing Prompt #1

Why are you here? What do you plan to gain from this experience? How can we--the Tech Team, ATI2008 participants--help you realize your technology aspirations? Are you worried about anything?

I'm here because it's fun and I like to learn new things. My sense is that schools are behind the technology curve. Many teachers I know are fearful of privacy issues and lack confidence when trying to use technology. At the same time, technology is highly motivating for students. I believe the only way to get better at technology is by "doing" it; in the same way a writing teacher improves by writing. I'd like to help others do more by doing more myself.

Ye Ha! The more I know, the more I don't know! However, my comfort level goes up and my hope is to spread that throughout the staff!

Purpose

This blog is designed to track my 2008 TechJourney. First, I intend to create a Goggle Apps Prototype using Peninsula Elementary School, a K-8 school of approximately thirty students. Goggle Apps will provide a free platform, using a shared domain, and will allow teachers and students to write and respond to one another's work.

In addition, I plan to initiate a project that incorporates digital sound and images as a way to record and publish student work.
